The problem with the install-and-vanish model
You install a roof, collect five figures, and hand the homeowner a warranty booklet. Then silence — for twenty years. When that roof finally fails, the homeowner doesn't call the roofer they half-remember; they call whoever advertises loudest that month. The most valuable book in your business — every roof you've ever installed, with its install date — currently earns you nothing between installs.
The maintenance-plan alternative
Shingle conditioners give that book a pulse. Sold with the install (or to your past customers) as a care plan, the rhythm is simple:
- Year 5: your crew inspects, cleans and treats the roof — a half-day visit, not a tear-off.
- Every 5 years after: the same visit repeats. Recurring revenue in your slow season, on roofs you already know.
- At end of life: you are the roofer who has stood on that roof every five years. The replacement job is yours to lose.
Supply is not the barrier it was: HydraSoy and SoyLei both sell to contractors directly, with no franchise fees or territory restrictions — unlike the dealer-network brands. Product economics and per-job math are in the research behind our cost guide.
Straight talk before you sell it
Sell this honestly or don't sell it. The shingle manufacturers' association (ARMA) formally advises against rejuvenators (bulletin, July 2026), no shingle maker endorses them, and the long-term field data is still thin. Your customers deserve the same file we show homeowners on our evidence page: lab gains are real, the five-year figure is a maker's claim, and treatment is maintenance — never a repair, never a leak fix. A care plan sold straight is a retention machine; sold crooked, it's a refund queue.
Where Roof Elixir fits (today: information only)
This page is not a partnership offer, and there is nothing to buy. Roof Elixir is following the roofer channel as this category develops — the due-date problem above is exactly what we think about, and our homeowner reminder program is the consumer side of it. If you run a roofing company and want a heads-up when we open a roofer programme, write to contact.malvyn@gmail.com with "roofer list" in the subject. No badges, no exclusives, no spam.
