The three price tags on every roof
Every ageing roof eventually presents one of three bills. Rejuvenation exists to delay the third one.
| Option | Typical US cost | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| DIY treatment (product only) | ~$200–$450 of product for a typical 2,000 sq ft roof, plus a sprayer | You supply the Saturday. Product math by brand is below. |
| Professional treatment | ~$1,200–$2,400 in independent buying guides; Roof Maxx's own published range is $3,000–$6,000 | Inspection, cleaning and application done for you; dealer warranty paperwork. |
| Full replacement | ~$9,600–$12,500 typical (Angi's 2026 national average is $9,609; ~$10,500 for a shingle roof) | A new roof and a new warranty — the bill rejuvenation tries to postpone. |
DIY product math for a 2,000 sq ft roof
| Product | Coverage | Product needed | Product cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| SoyLei APEX-1132 | 1 gal concentrate → 6 gal mixed, covers ~1,200 sq ft | 2 gallons | $400 (at $200/gal) |
| SoyFuze 4-Pack | 4 gal concentrate, covers 1,600–2,400 sq ft | 1 pack | $429 |
| HydraSoy | 1 gal concentrate treats 1,500–2,000 sq ft | 1–2 gallons | Price not published on the maker's site — shown at checkout |
Prices checked October 2026 from the manufacturers' own pages; they change. Add a sprayer if you don't own one (a pump sprayer is a modest one-time cost; a battery backpack sprayer makes a big roof much easier) and basic safety gear — see the accessory basket.
Quick estimator
Estimates for planning only. Professional treatment estimated at $1.50/sq ft (mid-range); replacement at $5.25/sq ft (Angi's shingle-roof average spread over a typical roof). Your quotes will vary with pitch, region and roof complexity.
The honest way to frame it: cost per year
A treatment that costs ~$430 in product and delivers the manufacturers' claimed ~5 years works out to under $90 a year of roof life — against a ~$10,500 replacement that works out to roughly $525 a year over a 20-year life. That arithmetic is why the category exists. It is also why the claim matters: if a treatment only buys two real years, the DIY math still survives but the $3,000–$6,000 dealer version gets much harder to justify. Our evidence page shows exactly how solid that "5 years" is — read it before choosing the expensive door.
